# Frequently Asked Questions

### What is Plura?

Plura is the social app for edge-of-culture communities that helps you meet people organically through shared events. We collaborate with event organizers whose events facilitate connection and community. These groups are often at the boundary of culture, exploring new ways to connect authentically, approaching life with a learning mindset, and creating a more community-minded future. In Plura’s app, you can discover events, become Buds with people, and join community conversations. We want to live in a world where all people have the felt sense of safety and belonging that comes when you've found your community.

### How do I join?

First, download our app from the [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1528252601) or [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=community.together.bloom). You can become Buds with people and chat 1:1. You can also join events - with your Buds or solo - and find people who are interested in the same events and experiences as you.

### Who is Plura for?

We welcome everyone 18+ who shares our [community values](/content/community-values/index.html) and is looking for connection. On Plura, you can connect organically with burner, queer, artist, creative, polyamorous, wellness, conscious, spiritual, and alternative communities through meaningful shared experiences. We strive to be inclusive for all sexual and relationship orientations, gender identities, and interests. You are welcome here.

### How does Buds work?

Every day, we offer you five suggestions of people in the community that we think you might like to meet. Your suggestions are based on the preferences you share with us. You become Buds with someone when you tap "Bud" and they do as well - it's a consent-based mutual opt-in. No unsolicited DMs on Plura!

### How much does Plura cost?

Right now, it's free! We have a premium membership, called Plura+ that offers premium dating and premium events benefits. [Read more here](/content/membership/index.html).

### Is Plura a dating app?

Plura is a community app and people use it to make all types of connections. When you Bud someone and they Bud you back, you can chat 1:1 - and then you both can decide what form that connection will take. If you're interested, you can flirt with your Buds and we'll let you both know if the flirt is mutual.

### When are you coming to my city?

Soon! We are determining which cities to launch next based on sign-ups. If you want to see us live in your city, share us with your friends and have them sign-up, and let us know about event organizers in your area who you think should list their events on Plura (you can email intros to [support@heyplura.com](mailto:support@heyplura.com)). Once we see a lot of interest, we'll go live!

### What are Plura+ Members?

[Plura+ Members](/content/membership/index.html) are members of the community whose financial support makes Plura possible. Plura is created by a small team in the community who work on Plura full time. Our philosophy is that everyone should have access to Plura to find connection and community regardless of their personal financial resources. Plura+ Members get premium dating and event benefits. [Read more here](/content/membership/index.html).

### How is Plura different from other apps?

Plura emphasizes organic, consent-oriented, community-centered connections rather than endless swiping. We believe meeting people within a shared cultural context is the key to success in forming meaningful intimate relationships.

### What should I expect at these events?

Each event has a description that will help you set expectations. We partner with event organizers to bring you a diverse collection of events to choose from. You can RSVP as “Going” or “Interested” in the Plura app where you can see and connect with others who will be there. Once you RSVP, you will have access to a group chat where you can interact with attendees and organizers beforehand and ask any questions you may have about the event, or even make arrangements such as carpooling.

### I am shy / socially awkward / new to my city / immunocompromised and am nervous about attending in-person events. Can Plura still be right for me?

Absolutely! Plura is home to a large number of virtual events. If in-person events are not your thing, you can still use Plura to find connection in a way that feels right for you.

### I went to an event and did not recognize anyone I said I wanted to meet. What happened?

Check the list of attendees and see if you have any buds going also. Sometimes people cancel at the last minute, or look different in person than in their photos. We encourage you to message your buds and make plans to meet at the event, or invite the buds you're excited about meeting but aren't on the guest list yet. Even if none of your buds show up, we hope you enjoy meeting the people who were there, and you'll be given an opportunity to become buds and stay in touch after.

### How can I add my own events?

When you join Plura, you will have the ability to create your own events on the platform, including private events just for your friends. To begin, simply navigate to the “Events” tab and click to “+” sign next to the Plura logo on the upper right corner. You will be taken to an event creation page where you will be asked to fill out a form with your event information. Once created, you can share your unique event link and referral code with your attendees to invite them to your page.

### I'm an event organizer. How can I create and edit my organizer page?

Creating an Organization:

1. Click the "Create Organization" button on the Organization List page [here](https://plra.io/manage/organization).
2. Fill out your new organization’s details, upload a picture and click save!

Editing an Organization:

1. Log into the Plura [event management system](https://plra.io/manage).
2. Click on the Organizations item in the header.
3. Click “Edit” next to your organization.

### Can I advertise my business, website, or service on Plura?

No. Plura is designed for building genuine connections, not for marketing or advertising. Sending promotional messages, sharing links to external websites, or advertising businesses or services through profiles, private chats, event chats, or discussion topics is not permitted.

### How can I get more buds?

Complete your profile! The most common reason we hear from our members about why they chose not to become Buds with other members is because their profiles are not complete. Because this is a social community, our members want to know about you. This means taking some time to write about yourself, share your interests and passions and personality. It also means adding more photos - and don't forget to smile!

Come back each day at noon to see your five suggestions and Bud the people you want to meet. Expanding your preferences and Budding more people will increase the chance that you'll get new Buds. You can also Bud people attending the events you want to go to, and if they Bud you back, you'll be able to chat 1:1!

### How do I edit my profile or preferences?

When you open the app, tap on the Invites tab on the bottom, then tap on the profile icon (it looks like 👤) at the top left of the screen. You should be able to see your profile. Tap on the edit icon (it looks like ✏️) next to any of the fields you want to edit.

### Can I make a profile as a couple?

We require Plura accounts to belong to one person. This is important because our members need to know who they are talking to when messaging each other. We support couples using Plura and if you are looking to meet people as a couple, we suggest you:

1. Create a profile as an individual
2. Include an additional photo of both of you (not your first photo)
3. In your "About Me" state that you are looking to meet people as a couple

### Can I be naked in my profile photo?

No. Our leading [community value](/content/community-values/index.html) is consent, which means "asking before escalating intimacy." We view showing genitals in your profile photo as a nonconsensual act and we will delete accounts that have this. Since we aim to be a gender inclusive community, your shirtless photos are welcome here no matter what your gender identity is (#freethenipple!).

### How can I report a member?

We ask members to report violations of our [community values](/content/community-values/index.html) via our app reporting system. You can do this on the People tab, on the Chat tab, and on the event feedback screen after an event. There is a "..." on the right side; tapping on that will give you an option to report.

### I can't tell someone's identity from their profile. Should I report them?

We strongly encourage members to use their "real" name and a photo that would allow people to recognize them at an event. Profiles need to have a full first name - not necessarily the name on your birth certificate, but the name you'd introduce yourself as at an event. We strongly suggest that your first photo clearly show your face - transparency generally keeps our community safer, and we also recognize this is not always practical for members in certain professions.

### I don’t want my profile to be visible anymore. How can I hide it?

If you no longer want your profile to be visible on the app, there are a few things you can do:

1. To stop showing up in member Suggestions, you can toggle off "Include me in the People feed" in the Discovery settings of your profile.
2. To stop showing up in event pages in Plura, refrain from RSVPing to events.
3. To delete your account entirely, go to Settings (gear icon) and select "Delete Account." You will lose all your chats and Buds - this cannot be reversed.

### I have an idea! Where can I share it?

Ooh! We'd love to hear it. Please email [support@heyplura.com](mailto:support@heyplura.com)

### How can I contact you?

You can email us at [support@heyplura.com](mailto:support@heyplura.com)
